The perfect companion piece for the new The Muppets minifigures (71033)–

‘It’s time to play the music… it’s time to light the lights’

Built in 1802, the Muppet Theatre is an old vaudeville house and now (very) lived-in home to the performers of the long-running, much-loved ‘Muppet Show’. This playset proposal includes four user-accessible areas: The theater’s main auditorium and stage, Waldorf and Statler’s balcony (perfect for heckling performing bears), backstage with Kermit’s office and theatre storage area, and Miss Piggy’s dressing room. 

The entire Muppet Theatre is full (including a cache of items stuffed unceremoniously below the backstage stairs) of various props and costumes that reference classic Muppet Show moments and skits: You can find ‘Pigs in Space’ and ‘Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem’ posters in the backstage stairwell, Gonzo the Great’s cannon (for human cannonballs) and George’s mop in the theatre wings, Floyd Pepper’s bass and Agnus MacGregor’s bagpipes in the orchestra pit, Kermit’s bike (nearly ‘gone with the Schwinn’), Boomerang Fish, singing carrot, errant rats, spaceship model, cooking supplies, office telephone (for ‘running’ gags and ‘I can’t hear you’ banana jokes), rabbit no-longer-in-its-hat, and a Viking helmet in Miss Piggy’s dressing room.

Lift up the stage lights and the iconic white arcade (rows of arches) is ready to lock into place to reenact the opening theme of The Muppet Show. Gonzo the Great’s cannon is flag-loaded and can be stored stage left.

This proposal has been systematically rejected by LEGO Ideas, so maybe (hopefully) there's an 'official' LEGO Muppet Theatre set somewhere in the pipeline?

When I originally proposed this build to LEGO Ideas in 2021, I hope to use original molds for the minifigures, similar to the LEGO Sesame Street series–

However, LEGO Ideas guidelines require that all proposals be created using existing molds (as pictured below)–

LEGO released their own The Muppets minifigures (71033) on May 1, 2022. I am glad that that Kermit and Company finally have a home (but plan to use my resin printer to add in the much-missed Dr. Teeth and Scooter this summer)–
